We love our interns and volunteers!! Wild Basin Creative Research Center offers students multiple paid internships each semester and a range of volunteer opportunities for all.
Interested in Volunteering?
Volunteers assist with land management, trail maintenance, school guided hikes and activities, citizen science and ecological monitoring, administrative tasks, and more. If you鈥檇 like to learn more about our volunteer opportunities, please email wbasin@stedwards.edu or fill out this .
- Every third Saturday, you can work with the Preserve Manager to help maintain a unique and important piece of the Texas Hill Country on a variety of trail and restoration projects. Use the link to view details and sign up.

This experience will not only give you an edge over other candidates when applying for jobs, it will also prepare you for what to expect in your field, increase confidence in your work, and help build your professional network.
Wild Basin Creative Research Center internships are open to students from any high school, college or university who have a love for the natural world and an interest in conserving and protecting the environment.

Calling All Creatives!
Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, Austin鈥檚 first nature preserve,
celebrates 50 years in 2026! Help us design our limited-edition 50th
Anniversary t-shirt utilizing the theme: Keeping It Wild Since 1976.
Prizes for first, second, and third place ($150, $100, $50)
Design Guidelines:
- Include these words: Keeping It Wild Since 1976, and Wild Basin
Wilderness Preserve (any placement) - Up to 3 colors
- Design will go on the front of a white t-shirt
- Maximum size - 12鈥漌 x 15鈥滺
- Resolution 300 dpi
File must be one of the following:
- AI
- EPS
- PNG
- SVG (AI and EPS preferred)
Submission Deadline: October 24, 2025
Winning Designs Announced: November 15th
All entries will be on display in the Wild Basin Creative Research Center visitor gallery.

Student Internship Opportunities at Wild Basin: Fall 2025 and Spring 2026
* Most internships require a time commitment of at least 10 hours/week. Email wbasin@stedwards.edu if you are interested in any of these opportunities.
- Assist with projects involving the ecological monitoring of plant and animal communities in the face of global change.
Fall 2025 Communications Internship - Create social media posts and flyers to promote Wild Basin Creative Research Center. Assist with outreach activities, special events, and administrative tasks. NOTE: This position has been filled.
- A hands-on experience working outdoors to assist with the management of an urban wilderness preserve, public hiking trails and the section of Bee Creek that flows through Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve.
Fall 2025 Environmental Education Internship - Assist with environmental education programs for the general public, SEU campus community, and underserved youth.
